A lot of the problem travellers face can be avoided with careful planning. Here are few ideas to make sure you get the flight, price and seat you want.
- Thought it’s not always possible to know your travel plans, the earlier you book, the better. Especially during peak times, such as Eid and Christmas holidays and during summer hoildays. Flights often fill up fast, so don’t count on leaving it till the last minute.
- Airlines like Etihad often run special offers, so it’s worth your time to sign up online to receive newsletters and emails from the airlines you use the most. If you’re able to fly during off-peak dates you can save a bundle. Also, comparison shop – if price is really an issue, you might be surprised by what budget airlines have on offer.
- Eithad Airways also advises customers to use the online check-in on its website which is available 24 hours before the flight departs. You’ll have a much better chance of getting the seat you want plus you’ll save time at the airport leaving time for that visit to duty free.
- You can never ask too many questions when it comes to travel visas. Though they should, airlines won’t always make it clear when you need a visa, so be sure to ask – standing at the check in is the very worst time to discover that you need three weks for your documentation to be processed.
- If you have certain meal requirements, booking is the time to make those requirements known. Also remember to confirm upon check in to make sure you get the meals you want in the air.
