I am a novice in the world of photography and I know there is much more to learn. That is the reason I will grab whatever tips I can get from all sources possible, most especially in the web.
While doing my regular routine in card dropping and visiting some of friends, I’m struck in the word numismatics. The author of that blog says it’s in line with photography. Well, I have to check that out myself as the way it is explained in the article is unclear and it is the first time I encounter such word. All I know is that there are coin collectors, but I don’t know the proper term to call them.
Basically, according to Wikipedia Numismatics is the study or collection of currency, including coins, tokens, paper money, and related objects like photographing those coins. I never knew that there are people fond of collecting photograph coins until now.
However, these coin collectors and coin photographers are grateful to have the US Mint. Why without US Mint it would be impossible for them to collect coins. Just like me you’re probably wondering what the role of US Mint is for the reason I am not a citizen or US national. I’m continents away that make me unaware of some important facts about the US country.
In my research, The United States Mint primarily role is to produce circulating coinage for the United States to conduct its trade and commerce. It is the responsible for designing and producing special coin sets for collectors, national medals, American Eagle gold, silver and platinum bullion coins, and commemorative coins marking national events such as the Bicentennial of the Constitution as well as safeguarding and controlling the movement of these coins.
This year 2009 the Kennedy Half Dollar is in high demand. The Min no longer produces these coins for general circulation, but for the sake of coin collectors. Some collectors don’t just collect coins, other also love to take photos of these coins. There’s actually a book specifically made to provide tips and tricks of getting good shots from coins of rare coins of whatever kind.
I came across this book in the same blog site I learned the word numismatics I mentioned above. But, I think this will not be of my interest. I am not a collector of any items. All I love is to take photos given I have spare time from my busy schedule.
