Exploring Mt Lumot, Cagayan de Oro, Philippines

Mt. Lumot may have gotten his name from the main feature of its trails, which are mostly covered with “lumot” or mosses. This is one of the mountains near the vicinity of the infamous Cebu Pacific Flight 387 plane crash. It was used by the MFPI during their 17th Mid-year climb and President’s Meeting. To go there, take a four-hour bus ride from Cagayan de Oro City (Agora Terminal) to Gingoog City. Pass by the local municipal hall for guides and information. A local mountaineering group, the KAPLAG can be contacted to assist and guide you during the climb. The exact jump-off point is at Sitio Haruray, Barrio Lunotan, 2 hours from Gingoog City. The entire expedition will last for three days.
