Exploring El Nido, Palawan Philippines
March 12, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment
The El Nido area of Northern Palawan is a showcase of geological and biological diversity. In recognition of the importance of its biodiversity, the Philippine government elevated the status of El Nido first to a turtle sanctuary, then to a marine reserve and finally in 1998, to that of a managed protected area. For over two decades, Ten Knots has strived to maintain a delicate balance between achieving tourism development goals, conserving El Nido’s fragile environment, and meeting the needs of the local community. They also advocated responsible tourism and have exercised stewardship over its natural environment.
