Exploring Sabtang Island

Hailed as one of the 12 best destination in the Philippines by the Department of Tourism in 1994. Sabtang is a 45-minute faluwa ride away from the port in Ivana, Batan. The island is mountainous and rugged, with steep cliffs and intermittent white sandy beaches like Batan, but less populated. Largely untouched by modernity, the only municipality in the island that has preserved the traditional Ivatan stone houses with coven cogon roofs.

Tour operators in Basco can arrange trips to Sabtang Island, though rates depend on which resort you book with. Be warned though, that the short Crossings to Sabtang can get quite rough, so it is not advisable to push through if the seas appear rough and if it is raining.
